This weekend on Sunday July 4th the POWER Youth Caucus had their first hike-a-thon to raise money towards biodiversity work. Seven youth from our ever growing caucus came together and went on a full day hike in Waterdown, Ontario. We got some great shots in the waterfalls and had lots of fun traveling over the rocky grounds. We came out with a few scratches and bruises, however in the end it was worth it as we raised over $2, 000. Check out the photos soon to come. If you live in the area and want to join in our fundraising events, contact us at biodiversity@powerhalton.ca ! Next hike will be end of August, join in the fun!
On Friday June 25th the POWER Youth Caucus headed down to Massey Hall to see Shout Out for Global Justice, hosted by the Council of Canadians. Speakers included Maude Barlow, Vandana Shiva, and Pablo Solon! We learned about world issues, oppression of media, and reasons for opposing the G8 and G20 summits. We also collected some signatures for the Youth Accord!
